Resources giant BHP is advertising for female-only maintenance roles as it attempts to reach workforce gender parity by 2025 — with the unusual call-out already attracting more than 600 women to apply.

The targeted hiring strategy is for BHP’s operations services team, which boasts around 3800 permanent employees across the country and maintains the miner’s fleet of machinery, vehicles and equipment.
