Southeast Asia Leads the Way on ESG Reporting, Rulemaker Says

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is emerging as a leader in sustainable finance and reporting, an influential ESG standard setter said Monday.

The Global Reporting Initiative said that its CEO, Eelco van der Enden, is holding a series of meetings with regulators and governments in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines as countries gear up for mandatory sustainability reporting. GRI’s voluntary reporting standards cover the range of environmental, social and governance issues and are the most widely used by companies in the region.
